In the past six months of 2017 a large number of traditional preconceptions about politics, the economy, technology, and even the weather have been turned on their heads. Most of what has changed as the result of opinion, accident, misinformation, and game-changing tactics.
This latest in a series of mishaps is another example of what should be taught these days in business school: You just never know and basing decisions purely upon statistics may be slightly less reliable than it once was. But just slightly, mind you.
Risk management IS a big deal in 21st Century society, but chance continues to play a large role in whether we hedge our bets rather than assuming anything, especially predictions.
